DEAD-ENDERS: What the murder of a leading conservative activist means for the animal rights movement

An ideology that holds “speech is violence, so therefore actual violence in response is justified” is a 100% dead-end ideology that will most definitely fall at some point, and hopefully very soon. But the danger in front of us is that when it falls, it will also greatly set back the animal rights movement if we continue to associate ourselves so closely with it.

CHARLES HORN: Charlie Kirk was not a proponent of animal rights or veganism, but… his assassination has some extremely important implications for the animal rights movement. One aspect to be mindful of is that this event will likely trigger much harder crackdowns on activists of all stripes, including animal rights… And the reaction by the far left has been sickening and vile, to put it very mildly. Even people on the center left are noticing…

His speech was considered bigoted by them, and therefore in their minds actual violence and death was deserved in response. More and more people are reaching the obvious inescapable conclusion that this is an ideology that may be talking about justice, but has let itself devolve into an ideology of violent totalitarian hate…

But the danger in front of us is that when it falls, it will also greatly set back the animal rights movement if we continue to associate ourselves so closely with it…

If you consider yourself an intersectional, really reexamine what this ideology is telling you to believe and do, and the person it’s making you become. Do you really like what you see, or are you able to recognize that it’s turning a whole bunch of once well-meaning people around you into full-on monsters? All of the social justice wins society has had so far have been possible because of liberalism, and liberalism will make it possible to obtain more wins in the future. So, change your woke ideology or discard it whenever it runs counter to liberalism…

As well, while you personally can still believe that the only way to reach animal rights is through convincing the majority of people to align themselves to the far left, you need to stop trying to impose that belief by authoritarian tactics on the animal rights movement… If you’re not intersectional, you need to stop tolerating or staying quiet on the systemic bad behavior of intersectionals, and I mean stop tolerating it with extreme prejudice. It needs to be given a social cost until they stop…

All of us desperately need to break the current association that animal rights has with woke ideology… The vile behavior of the far left is not sustainable in our society. Woke ideology is going to fall, and I’m hoping that it happens very soon… We made a huge mistake as a movement to tie ourselves to the far left to the point of indistinguishability, and we desperately need to start undoing that if we don’t want to see animal rights set back for a generation when woke ideology finally falls.
